If taking our B-12 can you take Adapto B Complex as well?
Yes, you can take both and many people choose to do so. The Liquid B-12 has a higher dosage of B-12 and it's easily absorbed in liquid form. The B-12 in the Adapto B-Complex is a smaller dosage in powder form that is intended to complement and enhance the other B vitamins and ingredients in that product. Each product has its own unique benefits. Adapto B-Complex has a dosage of 1 capsule 1-2 times daily, so it's an easy addition for most people on top of the liquid B-12 supplement and one bottle will last anywhere from 60-120 days.
Why DV% is so high?
DVs (Daily Values) are the same as the U.S. Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA), which are the amounts the U.S. Government has determined are just above what is needed to keep from developing a specific nutrient-deficiency disease, for example, scurvy from being deficient in vitamin C. In other words, these levels are essentially the bare minimum requirements for a nutritionally adequate diet.
The Food and Nutrition Board at the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies also set tolerable upper intake levels (ULs) for most nutrients. The UL is the "maximum daily intake unlikely to cause adverse health effects". All of the B-vitamins in Vimergy Adapto B-Complex are below the established ULs. For example, while the Adapto B-Complex contains 50 mg of no-flush niacin, which appears to be over the niacin UL of 35 mg/day, it isn't actually over the UL. This is because we use a niacin ester (inositol hexanicotinate, which is no-flush niacin) rather than straight nicotinic acid. Because the bioavailability of inositol hexanicotinate (IHN) is much lower than nicotinic acid, the 50 mg of IHN in the Vimergy formula is effectively equivalent to less than the UL for niacin.
We designed our Adapto B-Complex to offer amounts of nutrients that support health, including for people who have a diet that might be considered deficient or unhealthy, versus only supplying just enough nutrient content to potentially prevent a deficiency.
Are these B vitamins methylated?
Yes, the methylfolate (5-MTHF), methylcobalamin B-12, Riboflavin-5-Phosphate, and Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate are all active, methylated forms of B vitamins.
